Steam Echoes of Hamilton

Here is the cover for our eighth publication. This book is well underway, and will be released in November 2008. If you are on our mailing list, we will be sending you a copy of this flyer later this month. You may also pre-order this volume online or with our mail order form. As with previous publications, we'll mail out the books in the same order as the orders are received.

Dear Ian,
I can't tell you how delighted I was to find the ad for this Hamilton volume in one of my railway magazines. It's as though my life has come full circle, from my boyhood days of the 1950's to my current role as the City Councillor for Downtown Hamilton. So much of my time was spent at the Stuart Street yards and the roundhouse. Later I was able to ride the Hagersville mixed train after befriending its wonder crews. Some of this is captured in a commercial railway video of CN in Hamilton, which I filmed in part, and narrated. Part of my work as Councillor has been to restore passenger service to James St. North. As a member of the GO Transit board I can tell you that the project is well-advanced and if successful will likely include the restoration of VIA Rail service to James St. North as well. I hope you'll consider formally launching the book in Hamilton, hopefully at the old CN building, now known as LIUNA Station.
My sincere thanks for all of your wonderful work, but especially this new volume.
Sincerely,
Bob Bratina.
Ian:
I'm very pleased to finally hear a release date for the Hamilton book. I've been a fan since first seeing the Stratford book in a bookstore in Stratford many years ago, and greatly appreciate the "time machine" effect that reading them (ideally, in front of a warm fire on a cold winters night) can have. It's not an exaggeration to say that your books were the thin end of the wedge that has turned me into a serious rail enthusiast over the past few years.
Given the above, it's great to finally see your coverage being trained on what is more my home territory. Keep up the fine work, and I'm looking forward to seeing the Hamilton book as soon as it's finished.
